Text Box: A few words from the Chairman

Hi club members,
hope you have enjoyed your fishing this year on the clubs lakes, This year has been another slow year for the fishing, We can not see why it is happening , The stocking that has taken place just shows how many fish are going in to the lakes, But they seem shy to bite.
Last years fish loss on Brenkley showed the size of fish that were in the lake, Since that loss the committee managed to buy some carp of a size never before put into a local northeast pond as mentioned by Dave Hall on the radio. I.e. WACAC have put in premier fish for a premier league club.
Next years stocking along with fish from Fontburn etc will hopefully improve the bag weights for 2012
But don’t forget Brenkley and Horton are beautiful places to sit on a weekend and relax.
I had a visit from Jo Rackham from Sita who was very pleased with the grant work carried out on the lakes with their funding.
And with a few good work parties next year we will see Milkhope back on line.

Hope to see you all in the 2012 season
Tight lines
Billy Brown
Chairman WACAC

Fisheries

The QEII received 106lb of double figure carp in March with the biggest at 19lb and the smallest at 13lb. This was topped up with a further 15 carp totalling 80lb a few weeks later.  We were disappointed however not to receive some even bigger carp which we were half expecting but we shall still pursue these.
Brenkley received 216lb of carp which went some way to replace the one’s that died over the winter.  We also stocked Brenkley with 100 of each - Tench, bream and carp measuring 6 - 8” each.

Horton Grange was stocked with 65 8 - 10" bream, 86 8 - 10" Tench and 77lb of bigger bream (about 40 fish, some were getting on for 2lb).  An added bonus to this was the roach from Fontburn reservoir which totalled almost 300 for a weight of approx 134lb.
Thank you to the members that supported the club on all four days by fishing (whether or not they caught on the day) and for carrying fish a great distance.

Milkhope is almost complete and filling up with water quite nicely.  The club intend stocking ‘some’ fish in 2012 to see how they fair and how the water performs.  If successful a further stocking will be made 2013.

The grant work is all but complete with just a few items to tidy up.  A big thank you to those who put some physical effort into achieving this including the OAP / Disabled fraternity.  Your help has been invaluable.
